Our design examines the library for the information age according
to the following broad ideas:
While one may access information from any physical location,
a library for the information age is more than a dial-up account
and a computer. The library is very much an
institution addressing all aspects of society and culture
-- rich and poor, past and present, region and neighborhood.
Our scheme attaches itself to the past, Michelozzo's library
(c. 1440) at the Monastery of San Marco in Florence. At the same
time it addresses the needs of modern Florence and Florentines,
providing round-the-clock access to technology and Internet information
sources.
